Buyer / Planner (Part time)
Reports to Vice President, Operations
Role Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Buyer/Planner is responsible for the ongoing procurement of materials, components, equipment, supplies and services that meet the quality standards of the company. The role assumes full responsibility for planning requirements and supply chain management to ensure timely (scheduled) deliveries of goods and services within budget and/or standard costs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Procures materials components, equipment, supplies and services necessary for the operation of the company
- Leads capacity planning, forecasting, and inventory management with coordination of other departments.
- Generates, reviews and oversees approval of purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
- Sources, negotiates, and selects vendors that meet the company’s quality, price, and delivery requirements.
- Administrates and supports validation of inventory management system.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Ensures all established cost, quality, and delivery commitments are met, working within FDA medical device regulations, and applicable ISO standards.
- Monitors inventory levels of components, supplies and consumables to ensure minimum stock levels are maintained.
- Maintains accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other required data.
- Assists with maintenance and support of the Quality System; Monitors or is provided feedback on vendor performance.
- Exercises a good working knowledge of goods, services, and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements
- Works with receiving, finance and suppliers to lead reconciliation activities, including physical inventory process and variances.
- Perform other duties/special projects as assigned.
Experience & Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, and/or planning preferred
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of purchasing principles and procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with a team
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or related field
